Course Progression

The Enhanced Full-Stack Web Development Certificate program consists of five courses taken over 38 weeks of intensive, in-person study.

HFS 402 : Basic Front-End Web Development - 6 Credits

Get started by learning how to plan a site, use templates, and manipulate layouts. Specific skills and processes covered in this course include:

  • Responsive web design with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Graphics and video handling
  • Wireframing
  • Twitter Bootstrap
HFS 401: Advanced Front-End Web Development - 6 Credits

Learn how user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles apply to web development in this course which takes you through the inception of ideas, iterative creation processes, and developing basic mockups and interactive prototypes.

HBE 402: Basic Back-End Web Development - 6 Credits

Gain an understanding of how sites store and process data, and how to use libraries and frameworks for faster performance. This course also teaches you Python, a widely-used back end development language. Topics include:

  • Object oriented Python development
  • Data access and storage, SQL, NoSQL
HBE 401: Advanced Back-End Web Development - 6 Credits

Integrate and extend skills from the previous three courses to develop and launch complex web applications in the cloud. This portion of the program teaches you best practices for iteration, testing, and deployment along with:

  • Web frame works
  • SQL
  • Alchemy
  • Security
  • Cloud services
  • Agile development
  • User roles and data security
HPR 402: Programming Languages - 5 Credits

Extend your skills in programming and your ability to continually develop your professional knowledge by learning an additional coding language. This course challenges you to get to grips with a new language’s data types and scoping rules quickly, reflecting the real-world requirement every developer faces: how to adapt to new changes in technology.
